"Bio"

Danny R. Cox was born in Dallas in 1954. He grew up in Southeast East Dallas in the Frazier Court Projects. Pastor Cox graduated from Skyline High School in 1972.Pastor Cox met and married his High School Sweetheart Sherlyn Sharp in 1983.

In 1990, Pastor Danny Cox gave his life to Christ at True Holiness COGIC, under the direction of the late Pastor Freddie Cyrus. During this time Pastor Danny Cox assisted with Sunday School and later became the Teacher. As Pastor Cox, continued his Christian journey at True Holiness COGIC, Pastor Cox was elevated to superintendent of Sunday school. By the late Pastor Freddie Cyrus 

In 1999, Pastor Danny Cox and First Lady Penny Cox left True Holiness COGIC and became members of Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, under the direction of Pastor Kelly Austin. Pastor Danny Cox became the Sunday School teacher and Assist to Pastor Kelly Austin. Pastor Cox was also selected Man of the Year in 2001.

In 2010, while working full-time at the Legacy at Willow Bend, he started serving as Part-time Pastor for GMMBC. In 2011, after a unanimous vote, Pastor Cox was selected as the Pastor of Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, which lead him to retire from Legacy at Willow Bend.

Through the years, Pastor Cox has continued to grow in knowledge by attending classes at the Dallas school of Theological Seminary, T.D. Jakes Leadership Conferences, and by having and hosting Annual Men’s Teaching Conferences.

In 2020, when the pandemic started, Pastor Cox learned more inventive ways to reach the members by the way of Social Media platforms (Facebook and YouTube). During this time, he started Desk Top Talk for Wednesday night Bible Study and It’s Prayer Time with Pastor Cox on Thursday evenings. On Friday nights, Pastor Cox is a guest on the RC Production Podcast out of St. Louis Missouri. On Saturday’s, Pastor Cox joins Min. Kerry Kirven of Thorn Cross Men’s Ministry to encourage young men to come to Christ.
